Energy prices – electricity and gas – have risen enormously. Households with a gas connection will see their monthly payments increase significantly. This also applies to households connected to a district heating network, as the price is often linked to the gas price. Gas is typically used for preparing food, heating homes, and heating the water that flows from the tap. We can hardly do without gas, yet we must gradually move away from it. Rising energy prices oblige households to consider their own energy consumption. Providing households with alternative energy solutions helps them, firstly, to save energy and, secondly, to keep monthly energy costs low. The latter is intended to prevent households from facing financial difficulties when paying their energy bills.
It is therefore necessary for information regarding household energy consumption, home insulation, the use of alternative electronic products, the generation of green energy, and other energy-saving measures to reach households. This is particularly important for low-income households, so that they do not fall into (energy) poverty.
